The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Official Countdown Clock was unveiled on Sunday 21 November at the Corniche Fishing Spot in Doha. The clock was installed to start the one-year countdown to the FIFA World Cup.

Scope of work

JAM was engaged to provided safety planning for the construction of the clock, on-site safety management during the build and devise robust COVID-19 management protocols and procedures to ensure the tight timelines of the project would not be interrupted due to the pandemic.

• Creation of the Construction Phase Safety Management Plan that included construction, fire and COVID-19 risk assessments along with the Emergency Management and Medical Plan.
• Oversee the health and safety of the temporary enclosure that housed the construction of the clock.
• Oversee the health and safety for the build of the permanent clock structure.
• Liaising with and advising all teams engaged with the project to ensure all contractors’ work was planned and executed to minimise adverse risks within the enclosed construction zone.
