The FINA Aquatics Festival is a multi-disciplinary water sports event that in 2021 took place in the UAE’s largest multi-purpose indoor entertainment arena, Etihad Arena, set on the waterfront of Yas Bay on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.
The Etihad Arena hosted the 25m Indoor World Swimming Championships, the Arena Plaza hosted the World High Dive Championships, and the Open Water Marathon Swim World Championships took place in the waters of Yas Bay.
Scope of work
JAM supported the three events by providing:
- Event safety consultancy in the planning phase of the event, including all supplier document reviews for all three events.
- On-site safety advice for the construction of 2 x 25m indoor swimming pools along with the officials’ offices and competitor areas.
- On-site safety advice for the construction of the 27m-high dive platform at the Arena Plaza and the emergency planning for the Open Water Marathon Swim.
- On-site safety advice for the construction of the festival village at the Arena Plaza.
