Special Olympics World Games 2019
The Special Olympics World Games 2019 was hosted in Abu Dhabi in March 2019 for the first time in the Middle East North Africa since the movement’s founding over 50 years ago. Their mission is to promote positive social change for people with intellectual disabilities and create a more inclusive society.
Scope of work
JAM was tasked with providing multiple event safety teams for the three largest sites for the Special Olympics. In addition to supplying highly skilled people, JAM provided:
- Pre-production safety planning alongside LOC
- Planning and site design liaison
- Delivery of a comprehensive Event Safety Management Plan, an Event and Fire Risk Assessment, Emergency Procedures and Fire Safety Plan
- Liaison with venue, suppliers, local authorities and medical providers to assure the smooth running of all event’s stages
- Safe on-site delivery of over eighteen different sports across the three sites
- Planning and management of crowd and guest safety
- Compliance with local standards and strict Olympic protocols
- Safety planning for all VVIP visits
- Advisory for facilities for persons of determination
- Implementation of daily check procedures
